In the world, especially in countries of Western Europe (Great Britain, the Netherlands, Scandinavian countries), the Fair Trade movement is quite common. We can observe different levels of awareness concerning the concept of Fair Trade in partner countries (Romania, Poland and Bulgaria) that are involved in this project.
Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency, and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to and securing the rights of marginalized producers and workers – especially in poorer countries.
Fair Trade organizations (supported by consumers) are actively involved in fostering producers, raising awareness, and organizing campaigns concerning changes of principles and practices of traditional international trade.
Fair Trade slowly begins to occupy a similar position in public awareness as the economy, what is more, it could be stated that it is a new ethic of the economy.
It has also become increasingly popular in Eastern Europe, and we want to be part of this change!
